چکیده
Three-dimensional symmetry and coordination are important factors in facial aesthetics, analysis of asymmetry is the basis for clinical diagnosis, treatment, doctor–patient communication. With development three-dimensional measurement data technology, methods mainly based on anatomic landmarks, original-mirror alignment algorithm, anthropometric mask, artificial intelligence. This review summarizes analysis, current research progress field. The advantages limitations various analyzed discussed to provide a reference oral application.

Three-dimensional perception of facial asymmetry.
In orthodontic diagnosis, facial symmetry is important. The aim of the present study was to analyse the perception of various degrees of facial asymmetry exhibited by carefully designed virtual three-dimensional (3D) material. Three groups of raters (30 orthodontists, 30 maxillofacial surgeons, and 30 laymen) rated, using a six-point scale, the degree of asymmetry of eight randomly presented 3D...
متن کاملAnalysis of Facial Asymmetry in Deformational Plagiocephaly Using Three-Dimensional Computed Tomographic Review
BACKGROUND Infants with deformational plagiocephaly (DP) usually present with cranial vault deformities as well as facial asymmetry. The purpose of this study was to use three-dimensional anthropometric data to evaluate the influence of cranial deformities on facial asymmetry. METHODS We analyzed three-dimensional computed tomography data for infants with DP (n=48) and without DP (n=30, contr...
متن کاملManagement of Synkinesis and Asymmetry in Facial Nerve Palsy: A Review Article
Introduction: The important sequelae of facial nerve palsy are synkinesis, asymmetry, hypertension and contracture; all of which have psychosocial effects on patients. Synkinesis due to mal regeneration causes involuntary movements during a voluntary movement. Previous studies have advocated treatment using physiotherapy modalities alone or with exercise therapy, but no consensus exists on the ...
متن کاملFacial asymmetry assessment in adults using three-dimensional surface imaging
BACKGROUND The use of three-dimensional (3D) surface imaging is becoming more popular and accepted in the fields of Medicine and Dentistry. The present study aims to develop a technique to automatically localise and quantify soft-tissue asymmetry in adults using 3D facial scans. This may be applied as a diagnostic tool to monitor growth and dynamic changes and to evaluate treatment outcomes. ...
